Inspiration

Do what is good for your soul.
Do what is good for your soul!

What do You Love to Do?  Be inspired by what you love!

Anyone who is following their heart and doing what is important to them inspires me. I don’t think that it matters what it is that a person does as long as it fills them with joy.

When you have time on your hands, and you want to do something soul fulfilling what do you choose to do? Thinking about this helps you to figure out what is meaningful to you. Find the time to do more of what you love.

Look and you will find it–what is unsought will go undetected. Sophocles

I was in a lovely little book shop in Parry Sound, Ontario in December 2007 when I discovered a gem of a book. It is called The Complete Artist’s Way – Creativity as a Spiritual Practice by Julia Cameron.

This book includes three books in one.

  • The Artist’s Way
  • Walking in this World
  • Finding Water

I immediately started to work my way through the book. You read a chapter each week. There are tasks to do within each chapter.  Should you choose to do all or a few, these are negotiable.

Non-negotiable is to write three long-hand pages of writing. Brain-drain. A stream of consciousness. Get it on the page, no matter the mood. It is tough to do this day in and out complaining of the same things and not do anything about it. These pages help you get to the other side of fear, negativity and moods. They help you get beyond the censor’s voice and aid you to hear the still small voice that is at once the creator’s and your own.

Julia Cameron

Morning pages map our interior. Without them, dreams remain terra incognita. Mine did. Writing these pages, the light of insight is coupled with the power for expansive change. It truly is tough to complain about a situation morning after morning, month after month without being moved to constructive action. Writing these pages leads us out of the place we were and into undreamed-of solutions.

I very quickly decided to spend my time on more of the things that bring me joy every day, such as my

  • needle art,
  • writing,
  • reading,
  • gardening,
  • and travel.

Much of this I intend to share on the blog/website and ebooks. I’m spending time doing some of these every day.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

You are never too old to begin to do something new. Challenge yourself and figure out what you love and what you might like to do.

On Writing: I love writing.

The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

On Reading: I love reading.

Usually, television does not impress me. When I am at home alone, the TV is never on. I will read, and I love to read.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

Dr. Seuss

Do what you love to do? What do you enjoy the most? Make choices. Be inspired to do whatever it is that fills you with joy and feels soul-fulfilling.

  1. Very inspirational post! “Find time to do more of what you love.” – I couldn’t agree more. I think if we all took time to feed our souls, the world would be better for it. Thanks, Karen.
